For a novice DSLR user, the Rebel XTi is the first step in improving their photography skills. Canon has made quite a name for itself in photography, and the Canon Rebel XTi DSLR is no exception. At 10.1-megapixels, and incorporating a CMOS sensor, the Canon Rebel XTi DSLR can shoot poster size photographs without losing quality or resolution.
The Canon Rebel XTi has a fast start up time, meaning you can start shooting less than 0.5 seconds after turning it on. It also can take 3 frames per second in the continuous shooting mode, which helps when shooting sports or other action moments. You can continue the continuous shooting for at least 27 frames, which is on the higher end for an average DSLR.
The Rebel XTi also has 9 focus points. That means that whether you are shooting something far away or close up, it can make your images look crisp and sharp.
When you are taking pictures this DSLR turns off the LCD display screen. This means that you can't have Live View, but this feature preserves battery life and eliminates any glare that might distract the photographer while looking through the viewfinder.
While the Rebel XTi has a lot of features and is not difficult to master, we were disappointed in the lack of automatic shooting modes. It doesn't have as many as other cameras in this category do, however, it does have the basics like sports, portrait and landscape.
Again, because it doesn't have as many of the features that make the transition from point and shoot to DSLR nearly seamless, the Canon Rebel XTi got docked on value. However, it still has a decent price tag and still comes with many features that will help anyone improve their photography.
Some users have mentioned the fact that, being a successor of the Canon Rebel XT, this DSLR doesn't have the same quality of images they expected after seeing the XT in action. However, most users like the nine-point focus which allowed them to keep their subject in focus in varying situations and distances from the camera.
The Canon Rebel XTi DSLR has the features and options you need to shoot professional photographs. Priced at around $500, this DSLR lives up to Canon’s name and reputation of superior pictures at an affordable price and is an easy companion to take that step up in the quality of your photography.
