PMA Video: Sony Sweep Panorama in Action

Sony didn't bring a whole lot to PMA that we didn't already see at CES earlier in the year. But there was one thing that caught our fancy: Sony's new Sweep Panorama Technology.

The Sony DSC-HX1 CyberShot camera is pretty impressive in the tech spec department. But what really got our attention was the panorama sweep mode. By simply holding down the shoot button and panning the camera across the scene, you can capture panoramas that span somewhere between 120 to 150 degrees. The multiple attempts we made all yielded remarkably clear results without blurring or stretching.

Watch the Sony DSC-HX1's panorama sweep function in action on the Sony showroom floor:

Pretty impressive, right?

The Sony DSC-HX1 CyberShot will be available in stores in April and will sell for about $500. If our five minutes with it are any indication of its quality, it'll be a popular option for 2009.
