Sony Rumor Hints at A330 DSLR and Lens Kit

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Nikon and Canon's latest entry-level digital SLRs lately, the D5000 and T1i. Both cameras come in under $1000 and shoot HD video. Not to be outdone, it appears Sony is set to release a new digital SLR model, complete with a new lens lineup.

Of all places, the hints were found on Sony's UK website under their support section. The new camera will come in a DSLR-A330, DSLR-A330L, and DSLR-A330Y configuration. The letters following the model will indicate lenses, and we assume they will be new configurations, since none of Sony's current lenses use the codes Y or L.

At this point it is all speculation, although it looks like the A330 will most likely replace Sony's A300 model, which is their current entry-level camera. It would be unwise for Sony to release a new entry-level model without HD capture since Nikon and Canon already have such a large share of the market to begin with. No word yet on release dates, but stay tuned for the latest updates.
